An Important Message from Justin Pachota, Venice Pier Group President

At Fins at Sharky’s, our focus is, as always, on the health, safety and well-being of our employees, guests and community. We have been taking every precaution possible to ensure each of our staff members work in a safe and enjoyable environment, and that each of our guests have a safe and gratifying experience dining with us.

We greatly value our loyal community, as we would not be where we are today without each one of you and your continued support. With this in mind, we wanted to ensure that we keep all of you informed and aware of the fact that we have discovered the company’s first positive COVID-19 case among our staff at Fins.

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Florida and Sarasota County, we knew this moment was inevitable. And, being a restaurant that experiences a high volume of guests and employs a large staff, it was not a matter of “if,” but a matter of “when.” When we reopened our doors to dine-in guests on May 4th, we made certain that we would do everything in our power to keep our employees and guests safe during these troubled and uncertain times. We are confident that our continued safety and sanitization efforts, combined with social distancing measures and adherence to all guidelines recommended by Fla. Gov. DeSantis and the CDC remain effective in controlling the spread of COVID-19.

Along with other small local businesses, this has been an extremely challenging time for us. We care very much about the safety of our employees and guests, and we are working closely with the employee who tested positive for COVID-19 to ensure a fast and full recovery. This individual was identified quickly and removed from the schedule before the potential for spread was a high risk. We do not believe this employee's exposure to COVID-19 was work related.

Therefore, due to the timeframe and limited exposure this employee had since last being at work, we have chosen to stay open. We will continue to operate at the highest level of CDC-recommended practices by closely monitoring the ever-evolving situation and maintaining adherence to our already elevated safety and sanitization efforts.

Since reopening, our customers and staff have fully expressed their confidence in our efforts to respond to COVID-19 and have continued to offer their strong support. Here are the safety, sanitization and social distancing measures we have taken and will continue to execute to keep our employees and guests safe:

  • All employees are screened daily – including temperature checks - upon arrival and are prohibited to work while ill or exhibiting any symptoms
  • Face masks are required among ALL employees – Front of House, Back of House and Management alike.
  • Common area surfaces including tables, booths and seats are sanitized using hospital-grade disinfectants between guests.
  • All touchable surfaces in all public areas are sanitized nightly using this hospital-grade disinfectant.
  • All menus are single-use and replaced between guests.
  • Condiments, salt and pepper shakers and other tableside accessories are sanitized and replaced between guests.
  • Bathrooms and employee work areas are checked and sanitized regularly.
  • All tables are spaced at least six feet apart to comply with social distancing standards.
  • We are blessed with a generous outdoor deck and have made certain that each of these outdoor tables are also spaced at least six feet apart.
  • In addition to dine-in services, we offer takeout and contactless curbside pickup.

We greatly thank each one of you for your support, confidence and trust in us at Fins. Our doors will continue to remain open for you to enjoy a safe, happy and satisfying dining experience. Please stay safe and healthy!  If you have any questions, please call our Corporate Office at 941-484-7362.

  • We are limiting indoor seating at 50% capacity with six-foot distancing between tables and not seating parties larger than 10. Outdoor seating will be available at all restaurants with appropriate social distancing.
